Happy baby, Happy Hanukkah

Meet my friend's new baby J:

J is modelling the kimono sweater I made him (from Mason-Dixon Knitting). Two balls of Rowan All Seasons Cotton in dusty blue, with a crocheted tie rather than ribbon. My husband's friend in Atlanta just had a baby too, so might need to whip out another one of these, quick like.

Today I'm wearing my Picovoli sweater - it's a good "under-a-blazer" top. Maybe one day I'll photograph it for you.
I also finished a cable headband for my son's Spanish teacher, but otherwise I'm going to be lame on the knitted gifts this year. I already have three sweaters in progress - Jesse's Flames (one sleeve done, started body), a simple pullover in the Classic Elite Bubbles I bought at Webs, and Sitcom Chic (which will be waiting until spring). As Z has 5 - yes, f-i-v-e teachers for her preschool class, and R has his primary teacher plus 4 (f-o-u-r) afterschool program teachers, I chose Ye Olde Gift Cardes instead of Ye Olde Carpal Tunnel. This is not to say a ball of Kidsilk Haze did not jump into my hands at the yarn store on Saturday. Well, they were out of the lavender Eucalan, you want I should go away empty-handed? I guess that's my Hanukkah present to myself - a one skein shawl from One Skein Wonders.

Just had our office holiday party. I made Paula Deen's Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle, which was well-received. I barely had to clean the trifle bowl, it had been so thoroughly scraped clean. And now I could use a nap.
